The Story of EAT Club’s Recent Packaging Shift
Here at EAT Club, we're always working to bring you the best office food experience - more restaurants you love, new cuisine types, packaging that keeps your food warmer and is better for the environment. Recently, our EATers have shared that you’d like for your food to arrive hotter. That makes sense; research shows that the taste and quality of your food very much relies on the temperature at which it’s served.
As you know, our top priority is to deliver a superior food experience. After much testing, EAT Club has transitioned our hot food packaging to a recyclable option that helps keep food warmer, longer!
Give me the details...
The black, Polypropylene containers are:
- Made with 30% post-consumer recycled waste (recycled bottle caps!)
- Washable in the top-rack of a dishwasher 30 - 50 times
- Freezer safe
- Ovenable up to 225 degrees
- Made to keep food hot without going soggy, thanks to precision ventilation
Wait, isn’t composting better for the environment?
Not necessarily. In this case, it’s debatable which packaging is better for the Earth: a single use container that is composted or one made of recycled material that can be reused up to 50 times? Both recycling and compost serve the environment in their own right, and ensure that we keep as much out of landfills as possible. Go the extra green mile by re-using the packaging, and be sure to rinse it before recycling!
Our Polypropylene containers come from Sabert and Nuvida, who create these from bottle caps that would’ve ended up in the ocean. Bottle caps are the 4th most littered item in the marine world, according to Ocean Conservancy research. By partnering with Sabert and Nuvida, we’re diverting these from the stomachs of many of our marine friends!
With that said, please be assured that we’ll continue to explore the best possible solutions for both our customers and the planet.
Speaking of the environment, if you haven’t already heard, we are 100% carbon neutral! EAT Club is proud to be the only food delivery company to completely offset the carbon footprint of our operations, as well as the lives of all our employees, inside and outside the office.
